Code of Conduct

The purpose of this Code of Conduct policy is to ensure a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all attendees, participants, volunteers, and staff members at PopCon. This policy applies to all individuals present at the convention, regardless of their role or status.

Expected Behavior

All individuals attending or participating in the convention are expected to:

  1. Treat others with respect: Be considerate, kind, and respectful towards fellow attendees, participants, volunteers, and staff members. Do not engage in any form of harassment, discrimination, or offensive behavior based on race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic.
  2. Maintain a safe environment: Help create a safe space for everyone by avoiding aggressive or intimidating behavior, physical or verbal harassment, and any actions that may cause harm or discomfort to others.
  3. Communicate openly and constructively: Encourage open dialogue and discussion while being mindful of others’ viewpoints. Disagreements should be addressed respectfully and without resorting to personal attacks or inflammatory language.
  4. Respect personal boundaries: Obtain explicit consent before engaging in physical contact or taking photographs/videos of individuals. Always respect others’ privacy and personal space.
  5. Comply with PopCon policies: Familiarize yourself with and adhere to all convention policies, rules, and instructions provided by the organizers. This includes complying with any specific policies related to cosplay, prop weapons, photography, or autograph sessions.

Prohibited Behavior

The following behaviors are strictly prohibited at PopCon:

  1. Harassment: Engaging in unwelcome, offensive, or threatening behavior, whether it be verbal, physical, or written, towards any individual. This includes but is not limited to unwanted advances, stalking, or repeated disruptions of an individual’s participation in convention activities.
  2. Discrimination: Treating any individual unfairly or differently based on their race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic.
  3. Hate speech: Using language, symbols, or actions that promote or incite discrimination, violence, or hatred based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic.
  4. Bullying: Engaging in repetitive, harmful, or intimidating behavior that creates an uncomfortable or hostile environment for others.
  5. Non-consensual photography or recording: Taking photographs or recording individuals without their explicit consent or disregarding requests to stop photographing or recording.
  6. Disruption of events: Intentionally disrupting or interfering with convention activities, panels, workshops, or performances, thereby causing inconvenience or harm to others.

Reporting Procedure

  1. If you experience or witness any behavior that violates this PopCon Code of Conduct policy, please report it immediately to any convention staff member or volunteer.
  2. All reports will be treated seriously and with respect. PopCon organizers will conduct a thorough investigation and take appropriate action, which may include but is not limited to warnings, expulsion from the convention without refund, or reporting the incident to local law enforcement authorities if necessary.

By attending or participating in PopCon, you acknowledge and agree to abide by this Code of Conduct policy. PopCon organizers are committed to upholding the principles of inclusivity, respect, and safety for all attendees and will take necessary measures to ensure a positive experience for everyone.
