Fantasy is a broad term for something that was once considered impossible to produce properly by Hollywood moguls and television executives. Early struggles with such treasured and highly regarded films (but cult classics!) such as The Dark Crystal made fantasy a risk that most were unwilling to take, despite the success of Star Wars.
In the last couple of decades, we’ve seen a gradual shift and more acceptance in main stream media for the fantasy genre, as massively popular books such as Game of Thrones have translated to massively popular cultural icons, and fun and unique TV series such as Supernatural have lasted many successful seasons. There has never been a better time in our culture to be a fan of fantasy.
