PopCon understands that while many are excited about our in-person event this year, others rightfully have concerns. We did not take the decision to move forward with our live event lightly. The safety and well-being of all that participate are being taken in the highest regard. Here are our thoughts:
The Indiana Convention Center has hosted a myriad of events since the pandemic under strict health and safety protocols, much like PopCon will be implementing.
The building has a proven track record of safely and successfully hosting these events without any known COVID cases and PopCon will be in line with these safety mandates.
The Indiana Convention Center has poured in $7 million in infrastructure upgrades including Plexiglas shields, extra hand sanitizer stations, one-way traffic flow, contactless facilities, a Clorox-360 cleaning process, as well as a hospital grade air filtration system.
The Indiana Convention Center even received the highest certification with a Global Biorisk Accreditation (GBAC) and was named by Exhibitor Magazine as a “Center For Excellence” for these swift safety upgrades. Additionally, they received the National Air Filtration Association’s 2020 Clean Air Award for demonstrating leadership and excellence in air filtration.
PopCon Indy has been and will continue to work closely with Visit Indy, the Indiana Convention Center, and Marion County Public Health Department to ensure all safety protocols are met in accordance to where we are at with the pandemic come July. This will include everyone wearing masks and will be strictly enforced.

Someone who I would describe as a ‘geek’ or ‘nerd’ is a person who loves something to its greatest extent, and then looks for other people who love it the same way, so they can celebrate loving it together.
